Democracy in My Building
Man in Media
Alan Johnston
It has been ten weeks since Mr Alan Johnston disappeared in Gaza. He should have been with his family and enjoying life if he was not abducted. Islamic extremists know nothing about owing I think. They should be reminded about who told their stories to the world and who really cared about their and their nation’s future. Before his abduction, I paid very little attention to news about Gaza and the Middle East. Now the only thing I want to hear comes out from that area is his release.
The BBC has done what it can, so does the British government. What about the Palestinian government? They repeatedly say they know who the kidnappers are and the whereabouts of Alan but refuse to tell more. If they really know, it should not be that difficult to negotiate.
Anderson Cooper
Anderson’s father died on the operating table when he was ten. Not long before he his mother called to tell him his older brother jumped down from the 14th floor. He then wanted to be independent and found himself a job as a child model. I forgot to tell you he is from a very wealthy family, but just as most American teens, he did not consider family wealth as his own.
Anderson’s grey hair may cheat you. He is only 40 and having been anchoring his own show Anderson Cooper 360° since 2003. He previously served as a correspondent of ABC News, and then joined CNN in 2001. I did not really like CNN until discovered his programme. He always flies to the very frontline of the news events and dig deep into them. I just received the book he wrote last year Dispatches from the Edge, A Memoir of War, Disasters, and Survival.
Excellent paragon.
