with one comment

昨天在BBC WS上播放的From Our Own Correspondent我沒有來得及聼,雖然早收到BBC的郵件提醒我注意收聽。
Alan

Woman jailed for testicle attack

Democracy in My Building

with 15 comments

Alan Johnston

It has been ten weeks since Mr Alan Johnston disappeared in Gaza. He should have been with his family and enjoying life if he was not abducted. Islamic extremists know nothing about owing I think. They should be reminded about who told their stories to the world and who really cared about their and their nation’s future. Before his abduction, I paid very little attention to news about Gaza and the Middle East. Now the only thing I want to hear comes out from that area is his release.

The BBC has done what it can, so does the British government. What about the Palestinian government? They repeatedly say they know who the kidnappers are and the whereabouts of Alan but refuse to tell more. If they really know, it should not be that difficult to negotiate.

Anderson Cooper

Anderson’s father died on the operating table when he was ten. Not long before he his mother called to tell him his older brother jumped down from the 14th floor. He then wanted to be independent and found himself a job as a child model. I forgot to tell you he is from a very wealthy family, but just as most American teens, he did not consider family wealth as his own.

Anderson’s grey hair may cheat you. He is only 40 and having been anchoring his own show Anderson Cooper 360° since 2003. He previously served as a correspondent of ABC News, and then joined CNN in 2001. I did not really like CNN until discovered his programme. He always flies to the very frontline of the news events and dig deep into them. I just received the book he wrote last year Dispatches from the Edge, A Memoir of War, Disasters, and Survival.

Excellent paragon.

Another World

with one comment

I just dont like those low-quality Singaporean TV programmes.
I just watched a good one on Channel U last night.
I just found it touching and educational.
It’s called Find Me A Singaporean!

The presenter Belinda Lee will visit Singaporeans in 10 countries around the world.
And in this episode, she went to Yunan China.
She travelled a long way from SG to Kunming, then to the little tiny town of Fugong.
The Singaporean she was looking for is Fangfang, a volunteer dedicated herself there to train the women on how to educate their children and to take care of some disabled and orphans.
Fangfang is not seeking fun there.
Life can be tough for everyone here, it is even harder for someone from a developed country who had been educated in English and knew nothing about the custom or dialect.
Fangfang climbs mountains and walks miles to deliver her lessons or visit those vulnerable villagers.
She has been learning the dialect since first came here and made friends with the people.
Apparently Belinda was touched by Fangfang’s kindness and careness, so do everybody watched the programme I guess.
